Like most of my generation, it started, and will probably end, in the garage. Chainsaws, dirt bikes, and electric guitars are all WAY more fun when you're the one pulling the trigger, and "the band" is always a perfect excuse to ignore more pressing matters-- that, and a great way while away many a blown-out, surfless, afternoon with your buddies--- and toss back a few lagers in the process. ... from just north of San Diego, I've lived on Kauai for 40 years, and can't imagine trying to scratch it out anywhere else. Once a cook by trade, I've moved on, and usually manage to play out somewhere once or twice a week. I've been writing songs for over 40 years and have been fortunate enough to have been a finalist in the Kauai Mokihana Festival Composer's Contest several times, and even won first place one year. I play bass guitar with "Vic & The Victimz" blues band, Hawaiian Steel Guitar with "The Larry Rivera Polynesian Revue" and with Troy Waialeale, and may even turn up doing a solo set or two at various island venues.
